Onions sold under the label
“shallots grown from seeds” !

Prince de Bretagne is partnering with France's National Shallot Section in its campaign to protect consumers and Traditional shallots.

Since 2007, Prince de Bretagne producers have accepted competition from shallots grown from seeds provided it is fair. This is no longer the case: several varieties of shallots grown from seeds currently being marketed are, in fact, onions. At least, this is what a study recently published by GEVES* has revealed.

Prince de Bretagne producers grow only Traditional shallots. The presence of the Prince de Bretagne logo and the indication 'échalote traditionnelle' (Traditional shallot) are a guarantee for you, your clients and consumers that they are buying a real shallot, with all its associated taste qualities.

*Groupe d'Etude et de contrôle des Variétés Et des Semences (Variety and Seed Study and Control Group), the organisation providing official expertise for new vegetable varieties for their inclusion in the official catalogue and protecting seed quality.
